Highs And Lows
The Reds beat the Cards 8 - 3 in 3:03 tonight at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. The highlight of the night came in the bottom of the 7th inning when the Redbirds brought in a rookie reliever with the bases loaded and one out. On his first pitch the Reds batter flew out to short left field and then on a 3 - 2 pitch the Cards rookie struck out the Reds batter with a nasty slider. Even though the score was 5 - 3 in favor of the Reds, all the momentum favored the Cardinals. Then came the bottom of the eighth inning and the "lowlight" of the night. Two homeruns later off the rookie and the score was 8 - 3 and the game was basically over. This was a perfect example of a rookie experiencing the highs and lows of the game. We'll see how he bounces back.
