Follow The Script

The first segment of our game open dealt with the fact that the Redbirds' starting pitcher was pitching his first game because of an injury the occurred on April 16. We wondered how effective he would be after such a long layoff. Our second segment dealt with the fact that the Brewers were playing awful baseball and, in fact, were 1 - 9 in their last 10 games. The Cards were down 6 - 0 after two innings as their starting pitcher was not effective at all. However, just as we scripted, the Brewers shut down their offense and the Cardinals won the game 7 - 6. It doesn't happen often, but it sure is nice when the players follow the script of the TV guys. Maybe tomorrow we'll talk about a Cardinals no-hitter in our open.
