Mush

The Cards beat the Nats at home tonight by the score of 4 - 3 in 2:43. After the first inning of this game, there was a real nice flow to the show. The game moved at a good pace and we were able to develop a nice rhythm on the telecast. I needed a game of this type. My brain is pretty much mush.

Four Favorite Words

Done on the road!! These could be my four favorite words right now. Don't get me wrong, I love directing Major League Baseball. However, the 2013 baseball season has been the most arduous season of my career. I have most certainly never been more fried than I am right now. This season displayed some of the worst quality of baseball ever. I believe that 15% of players in the big leagues don't belong there. Six local TV games remaining this season. All to be played at Busch Stadium! Done on the road! Home sweet home!

The Squishy Sound

I don't remember the score of tonight's Cardinal/Brewers game. I truly don't recall much about this contest. I do know that I have directed 9 hours and 5 minutes of Major League Baseball in the past two days. That does not include the two 30 minute pre-game shows of which I am involved with two segments. The squishy sound you hear is my brain.

Long Long Day

It is 12:43 AM and my luggage just arrived to my room here in Milwaukee. It is that late because today's game between the Cards and the Rockies took 5 hours and 9 minutes to play. 15 innings, 13 runs (Rockies 7 Cards 6) and 33 hits will do that. We were exclusive in Denver today as the home side didn't televise. Kudos to our crew. There were moments when each and everyone's focus strayed a bit, but for the most part the performance of the crew was fine. A long day indeed. Fortunately there is light at the end of the tunnel as 8 TV games remain on the schedule. Good night.

Finally

Finally some drama. Finally. The Cards beat the Rockies tonight at Coors Field in Denver by the score of 4 - 3 in 2:52. The game ended with the bases loaded and Todd Helton at the plate. Helton, arguably the greatest Rockies of all-time, had announced his retirement at the end of this season just two days ago. The remaining crowd was about 50/50 Cardinals/Rockies fans during the final at-bat and everyone was standing and cheering. The Pirates had lost earlier so if the Redbirds win they move to 2 games ahead of the Bucs with just 10 games to play. Helton struck out and the game was over. Great job by this talented Denver TV crew. Everyone was on top of their game and we captured the final at-bat in an exciting fashion. The final at-bat. Drama. Finally

Not Surprised

At Coors Field tonight in Denver, the Cardinals beat the Rockies 11 - 4 in 3:23. I'm trying to figure out how a bad game continually gets worse as the night drags on. I wonder if young pitchers who have been called up from the minor leagues where they have been successful (the reason why they have been called up) are not used to playing in blowout games on either side of the score. Both relief staffs for the most part in this game were brutal. Just another example of a poorly pitched game in the 2013 season. I'm not surprised.

Love Denver

It took 2:51 for the Rockies to beat the Redbirds 6 - 2 tonight at Coors Field in Denver. I like everything about Denver. Our hotel is my favorite hotel in all of baseball. The downtown area is comfortable in a Chicago kind of way. The TV crew for our visiting team is exceptional. They work hard and it is fun to be part of their TV team. It is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel room to the TV truck. The weather is wonderful. On and on I can list things I like about this great city but I will stop now because there is a bottle of wine with my name on it in the hotel bar.
